These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of RideCare — including
the Android app and any related services (the "Service"), operated by
Black & White Studio ("we", "us", "our"). By installing the app, signing in,
or using the Service in any way, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
Quick summary. RideCare is a free, offline-first vehicle logbook. All your data
lives on your device. Google Drive sync is optional and uses your own Drive account — we do not
store your vehicle data on our servers.
1. Acceptance of Terms
If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, do not use the Service. Continued use of the
app constitutes acceptance of these Terms and any future revisions. Where you use the Service on
behalf of an organisation or business, you confirm you have the authority to bind that entity to
these Terms.
2. Description of service
RideCare is a vehicle-management logbook Android app that lets you:
- Manage a multi-vehicle garage (motorcycles, cars, scooters, trucks and other types).
- Log maintenance records, service schedules, fuel fill-ups, parts replacements, expenses and documents.
- Receive reminders for upcoming or overdue maintenance, parts due for replacement, and document expiry.
- Track fuel efficiency, cost-per-km and spending via charts and insights.
- Back up and restore your data via Google Drive, or export to CSV.
- Browse and purchase parts and accessories via the in-app shop.
3. Accounts & eligibility
- To use RideCare you must sign in with a valid Google account.
- You must be at least the age of majority in your jurisdiction to create an account.
- You are responsible for keeping your Google account and device secure.
- You must provide accurate vehicle and profile information.
- You agree to use a minimum supported app version. A forced update may be required to continue using the app.
4. Pricing & in-app shop
- The RideCare app is free to download and use for all core features (logbook, reminders, backup, insights).
- The in-app shop allows you to purchase physical parts and accessories (e.g. engine oil, tyres, helmets). These are sold subject to separate purchase terms shown at checkout.
- In-app purchases are processed through Google Play. Refund requests for physical goods follow our returns policy shown at checkout and applicable consumer law.
- We may introduce optional premium features in the future with clear notice and your opt-in consent.
5. Acceptable use
You agree to use RideCare only for lawful purposes. You must not:
- Enter false or misleading vehicle or maintenance data.
- Use the Service to harass, defraud, or harm any person.
- Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or tamper with the app or its Firebase configuration.
- Use the Service in violation of applicable laws in your jurisdiction.
- Attempt to interfere with the app's availability, Firebase services, or other users' data.
- Circumvent or disable any feature, notification, or reminder mechanism.
6. Your data & responsibilities
You are responsible for the vehicle data you enter and store using the Service. You confirm that:
- The vehicle and maintenance data you log is your own or relates to vehicles you are authorised to manage.
- You maintain adequate backups (e.g. Google Drive sync) appropriate to how you rely on the data.
- If you use the in-app shop and provide delivery or payment details, you ensure those details are accurate.
7. Offline-first & data loss risks
RideCare is designed offline-first — all logs, schedules and documents are stored on your device's
local database. You acknowledge and accept the following risks:
- If your device is lost, stolen, damaged or factory-reset, your data is permanently lost unless you have a recent Google Drive backup.
- We are not responsible for data loss arising from device failure, OS upgrades, or uninstalling the app without a prior backup.
We strongly recommend enabling Google Drive backup in the app settings to protect your vehicle history.
8. Google Drive backup
- When you enable Drive backup, the app writes your data to your own Google Drive account using the Drive API app-data scope. We cannot access this data.
- By enabling Drive backup, you authorise the app to read and write its own backup files in your Drive. You may revoke this permission at any time via your Google account settings.
- Google Drive availability and storage limits are governed by Google's own Terms of Service. We are not liable for Drive outages or quota-related failures.
9. Reminders & notifications
- RideCare uses Android notification permissions to send service, parts and document-expiry reminders. You may disable notifications at any time in your device settings.
- Reminder accuracy depends on the odometer readings and dates you enter. We are not liable for missed maintenance or document lapses arising from inaccurate data.
- We may use Firebase Remote Config to adjust reminder thresholds, base URLs and feature flags to keep the Service stable.
10. Availability, updates & force updates
- We may modify, suspend or discontinue any feature of the Service at any time.
- We may issue updates, including mandatory updates required to continue using the app (e.g. for security, database schema migration, or compatibility).
- Scheduled maintenance or unexpected outages may temporarily affect Firebase-dependent features; offline functionality is unaffected.
11. Intellectual property
The Service — including its code, design, logo, brand, and content — is owned by us and our
licensors. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use
the app for personal or business vehicle management in accordance with these Terms. You may not
copy, resell, sublicense, redistribute, or create derivative works of the Service without our
written permission.
You retain all rights in the vehicle and maintenance data you input. By using the Service, you
grant us a limited licence to process that data locally on your device solely to provide the
Service to you.
12. Disclaimer of warranties
The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties
of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory. We do not guarantee that the Service will be
error-free, uninterrupted, free of vulnerabilities, or that reminders will always fire at the
exact expected time. Maintenance reminders are advisory only — always verify your vehicle's actual
service requirements with a qualified mechanic.
13. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental,
special, punitive, or consequential damages — including loss of data, mechanical failure, vehicle
damage, business interruption, or personal injury — arising from or related to your use of, or
inability to use, the Service or any reminder or recommendation provided by it. Our aggregate
liability for direct damages shall not exceed the total fees you paid us in the 12 months
preceding the event, or USD 50, whichever is greater.
14. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claim, demand, loss, or expense (including
reasonable legal fees) arising from: (a) your violation of these Terms; (b) your violation of
applicable law; (c) your reliance on any reminder or insight provided by the app without
independent verification; or (d) any dispute between you and a third party related to your use
of the Service or the in-app shop.
15. Suspension & termination
- We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms or otherwise put the Service or its users at risk.
- You may stop using the Service at any time by uninstalling the app.
- You may request account deletion by contacting us. We will delete or anonymise account-linked data within a reasonable period, subject to legal retention requirements.
- Uninstalling the app does not automatically delete your Google Drive backup — you may delete it manually from your Drive.
16. Changes to these Terms & contact
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified via an in-app
message or the app store update notes. Continued use of the Service after such notice constitutes
acceptance of the revised Terms.
