Privacy Policy

Welcome to RideCare. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect,
how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to the Android app and any related services
operated by Black & White Studio ("we", "us", "our").
Privacy in one line. Your vehicle data lives on your device. We do not store
your logs on our servers. Google Drive sync (optional) writes to your own Google Drive
account — we cannot access it. Firebase is used only for crash reporting, analytics, and remote
configuration.
1. Who we are

2. Information we collect
Information you provide
- Google account info — name, email address and profile photo, used for sign-in and to personalise the dashboard greeting.
- Vehicle data — vehicle type, brand, model, nickname, odometer readings.
- Logbook entries — maintenance records, fuel fill-ups, parts replacements, expense records, document photos and expiry dates.
- Shop data — delivery address and payment details entered during in-app purchases (handled by Google Play).
Information collected automatically
- Crash reports — stack traces and device metadata collected by Firebase Crashlytics to help us fix bugs. No logbook content is included.
- Analytics events — anonymised usage events (screen opens, feature taps) collected by Firebase Analytics to understand which features are used. These are aggregated and not linked to individual vehicle data.
- Remote Config fetches — the app periodically fetches configuration flags (reminder thresholds, force-update flags) from Firebase Remote Config. No personal data is sent in these requests beyond a Firebase app instance ID.
3. How we use information
- To provide and personalise the logbook experience (vehicle dashboard, reminders, insights).
- To authenticate you securely via Google Sign-In.
- To send maintenance, parts and document-expiry reminders via Android notifications.
- To diagnose crashes and improve app stability via Firebase Crashlytics.
- To understand feature usage and improve the product via Firebase Analytics.
- To fulfil in-app shop orders and process returns.
We do not use your vehicle data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond operating the Service.
4. Local storage & offline-first
All vehicle logs, maintenance records, fuel entries, parts data, expenses and documents are stored
exclusively in a local Room database on your device. This data does not leave
your device unless you explicitly enable Google Drive backup or make a purchase in the in-app shop.
If you uninstall the app without a Drive backup, your local data is permanently deleted. We
cannot recover it.
5. Google Drive backup
When you enable Drive backup, the app uses Google's Drive API with the
drive.appdata scope to write an encrypted backup file to a private app folder in
your own Google Drive account. This folder is visible only to you and to RideCare — no other
app or person can access it.
- We do not access, read, or store your Drive backup on our servers at any point.
- You may revoke Drive access at any time via Google account settings → Security → Third-party apps.
- Deleting the app does not automatically delete the Drive backup file; you may do so manually from your Drive.
6. Firebase services
We use the following Google Firebase services:
- Firebase Authentication — to verify your Google Sign-In token. Firebase stores your Google UID and token server-side for session management.
- Firebase Crashlytics — to collect crash reports. Data is anonymised and used only for bug fixing.
- Firebase Analytics — to collect anonymised usage statistics. You may opt out via your device's advertising settings.
- Firebase Remote Config — to push configuration changes without an app update. No personal data is sent.
All Firebase services are subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
7. In-app shop
When you make a purchase through the in-app shop, payment is processed by Google Play. We receive
confirmation of the purchase and your delivery address to fulfil the order. Payment card details
are never shared with us. Shop purchases are subject to Google Play's privacy practices and our
order terms shown at checkout.
8. Permissions
- Camera — to capture photos of documents (insurance, registration, etc.) stored locally in the document vault.
- Notifications — to send maintenance, parts and document-expiry reminders. You may disable these in device settings at any time.
- Internet — for Google Sign-In, Firebase services, Drive sync and in-app shop.
- Google Drive (drive.appdata) — to read and write the app's backup file in your private Drive folder. Only requested when you enable backup.
9. Data sharing & third parties
We do not sell, rent or share your vehicle or personal data with third parties for their own purposes. Data is shared only:
- With Google (Firebase, Drive, Play) as described above, to operate the Service.
- With logistics partners when you make an in-app shop purchase, to deliver your order.
- When required by law, court order, or regulatory authority.
10. Data security
- Local data is stored in a Room database protected by Android's application sandbox.
- Google Sign-In tokens are stored in Android EncryptedSharedPreferences.
- Drive backup files are encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and stored in your private app-data folder.
- We follow Google's recommended security practices for Firebase and Credential Manager.
11. Data retention & deletion
- Local data — retained on your device until you delete it within the app or uninstall the app.
- Google Drive backup — retained in your own Drive until you delete it manually.
- Firebase Analytics & Crashlytics — retained per Google's default retention policies (typically 60–90 days for raw event data).
- Account deletion — to request deletion of your Firebase account data, contact us at info@blacknwhitestudio.com. We will process it within a reasonable period.
12. Your rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you (primarily your Google account info and Firebase identifiers).
- Correct inaccurate data.
- Request deletion of your account and associated data.
- Object to or restrict processing.
- Lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.

13. Children's privacy
RideCare is not directed to children under 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your
jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a
child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
14. Changes to this policy & contact
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via
an in-app notice or the app store release notes. Continued use of the app after such notice
constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
